Yesterday I was far too impatient to wait for some butter to soften so that I could make a traditional grilled cheese sandwich. The kiddo was napping and the husband was outside doing lumberjack things and I was suddenly starving that VERY INSTANT and could not wait more than 3 minutes for a meal. Hangry mode: engaged. Therefore, waiting for butter to soften was so totally out of the question. I had a stroke of genius and decided hey, I have a magic non-stick skillet, I’ll just melt these cheese slices and slap that on some toast. Grilled cheese magic, right? DAMN RIGHT.
Ingredients:
- Cheese (I like any kind of ‘Jack’ variety. Pepper Jack, Colby Jack, Cheddar Jack… You get the idea)
- Bread
Instructions:
- Toast bread in toaster.
- Meanwhile, melt cheese in a non-stick pan by laying slices in a single layer then putting a lid over the pan to keep in the steam (resulting in the cheese melting from the top as well as the bottom)
- Smear cheese (and grease released from the cheese while melting – mmmmmm calories) onto bread.
- Eat, Papa, eeeaaaat. Nobody likes a skinny Santa.
Badda bing. Badda boom. Badda full tummy in less than five minutes.
